RIP Y Metallika aka "George" by Belinda Camarda

Y Metallika Q-67421/ Q-5265370 DA WF0334, was born 08/09/2009. He was by Potassium Imp out of our mare Y Pep N Oak.
Our introduction to Marilyn Mort of Tally Station and the subsequent breeding of our mare to their imported stallion resulted in a beautiful cremello colt who we affectionately named 'George'.
From day one he demonstrated amazing tolerance and acceptance. He displayed so many wonderful traits that validated our breeding choice, and we looked forward to his every step along the road to maturity.
George went to Gary Marshall of Hobby Horse Ranch in Mundijong where he continued to win admirers even having his own Facebook account. George liked people. There are no other words to describe it. His quiet and friendly nature not only helped his training regime, but pleased everyone who handled him. He adored the beach and liked nothing better than to stand quietly for scratches and cuddles.
Under the expert guidance of Gary, George flourished. While we continued to be amazed at his stellar rise, Gary assured us that the best was yet to come.
This little man achieved so much in such a short time by winning numerous AQHA and AmQHA Champions colt/stallion awards. His most memorable achievement was being awarded the prestigious WA Western Classic Weanling Halter Futurity from an impressive line-up of 13.
George was shown by our daughter Rebecca at the Dilutes Australia Bibs N Bootees Youngstock Show. He not only won his halter classes, but went on to take out Supreme Champion Cremello and Supreme Champion AORB. In what was to be his final show, George then took the title of Best Western Breed of the Show. All these awards under four different judges, every one of them congratulating Rebecca on the young horses' beautiful presentation and manners.
Sadly on the morning of June 9th 2010, we found George had passed away in his stable. Nothing can prepare an owner for the death of their horse, and no amount of cotton-wrapping can prevent an accident. There was no indication the previous night of anything amiss. He had eaten his feed, was rugged and tucked up for the night and a last check over the door at 10PM revealed him contentedly munching on his hay.
George will be missed by our family as well as by the wonderful people who had taken his journey with us.

Thank you to Marilyn for your compassion and generosity, to Gary for all your hard work and the great care you took of George, and to all who sent words of comfort in cards, emails and flowers. Sharing the loss with those who know exactly how we are feeling has helped at this sad time.

We attended the Bibs N Bootees Young Stock Show today with all 3 Yarrabah bred babies doing extremely well with Y Metallika winning several Supremes and at the end of the show taking out Grand Champion Western Breed, Y Rulez R Broken also won several Supremes and Y Rulez R Magic also had a successful day. Full results can be seen on the showing page. Thank you to Fiona and Bernie for their hospitality on letting us have a sleep over with George it was very appreciated.

It was much to our delight that our weaning colt we bred Y Metallika won the Western Classics Weanling Futurity today, a huge thank you to Gary Marshall of Hobby Horse Ranch for all the work put into George it was a great win from a line up of 13 weanlings. We would also like to thank the WAQHA Committee, The Western Classics organizers, the Di Candilo family for their generous sponsorship of the show, the stallion owners that kindly donated a service and to the judge Mark Chamberlain for a wonderful show. George then went on to win Grand Champion AmQHA colt/stallion and Grand Champion AQHA colt/stallion.

Congratulations also to Ben and Kylie with their filly Y Rulez R Breakin on winning the Western Classics Yearling Futurity and for winning the lovely new Show halter which was hotly contested over 3 events which included halter, lunge-line and led trail. Zophia then went on to win Reserve Champion American and Australian Quarter Horse mare/filly well done guys we are very proud of you.

Well done to the team of Yarrabah babies shown today at the Harvey Agricultural Show and congratulations to you all on your fantastic results. Congratulations to Fiona and Bernie on a successful show at the All Colour Show today and a special well done to Bernie on a successful show, not only showing Bailee (Y Rulez R Magic) for her first show, but for showing your first horse ever. A huge congratulations to Ben, Kylie, Fee and Bernie on your fantastic results at the WAPA State Championships today. Y Rulez R Breakin took out the Yearling Futurity and Grand Champion Junior Palomino Exhibit and Y Rulez R Broken won Champion Sport Horse Gelding and Supreme Sport Horse Exhibit. The two babies also entered into the Sire/Dams progeny under their dams name Extreme Attraction winning 1st and then entered the Breeder/Owners group under Yarrabah QH Stud and also won this too, just fantastic news.

Well with much delight Yarrabah Babies do it again taking out some very prestigious awards this weekend at the WAQHA Blue Ribbon Futurity Show

Y Rulez R Broken not only wins the QH weanling Futurity but also takes out the Open Weanling futurity. Congratulations Fee on a great weekend of results.

Y Rulez R Breakin takes out the QH Yearling Futurity and 3rd in Open Yearling Futurity. Congratulations again to Kylie and Ben on super results once again.

Y Metallika had a great day and was very well shown by his trainer Gary Marshall of Hobby Horse Ranch winning his colt 1 year and under and taking out Grand Champion Colt/Stallion amongst all the big boys.

 

 

Wow what a weekend, Yarrabah horses took out 3 Champion awards at the Lopin Along Show today. Champion colt/stallion was our beloved boy Coliban Rusty Rules, Champion mare/filly was the gorgeous Y Rulez R Breakin and for his second show for champion gelding was Y Rulez R Broken. Congratulations to everyone for making this such a memorable day

It was a big day for George today (Y Metallika) at the beach. Not only was it his first float trip but also his first visit to the beach and as the pictures shows he had a great time and was very laid back about the whole event. George is currently being prepped by Gary Marshall of Hobby Horse Ranch and will be shown at his first show on 27th February 2010

 

We are pleased to announce that all our mares have been preg tested back in foal to Coliban Rusty Rules for a 2010 drop. Expressions of interest can be made on some of the foals due this year, so be quick if you want to secure your next baby that will halter now and ride later.

Coliban Rusty Rules was shown for the last time this year at the WAPA All Breeds show winning Champion Colt/Stallion. Even though he had been serving mares throughout the week Charlie again showed us that he can go from the breeding barn to the show ring and still display what a beautiful nature and impeccable manners he has. Congratulations to my daughter Bec on doing an outstanding job of showing Charlie for me.

Congratulations to John on the safe arrival of a chestnut filly born late this evening by our stud Coliban Rusty Rules out of Playin Barry B . A lovely long legged filly who looks like she will grey out, will be a stand out in the crowd for sure.

 

We would like to announce that the chestnut colt born 13th October by Coliban Rusty Rules out of a customer's mare, Southern Aurora, has been colour tested and his results are NCr which means he is a palomino not a chestnut. All of us here at Yarrabah QH's are so happy for you Michelle as I know you dearly wanted a palomino. Congratulations on him not just being coloured but being a beautiful foal too

 

Our last foal for the season was born this morning at 4.30 am and we are extremely happy to announce the safe arrival of a palomino filly from our miniature mare Redlands Trixie by our previous stallion Yarrabah Casper. Casper has given us the best gift ever by producing 2 beautiful dilute babies both being fillies of which we shall retain to breed in the near future to our new stud colt Wildfire Peppers Double Trouble.

 

We are pleased to announce the safe arrival of a palomino filly out of Magics Imperial Shannay by our stud colt Coliban Rusty Rules at 11.40pm. This is the first foal for Shannay and boy did she deliver the goods, a beautiful tall filly with a lovely front end and huge hip with lots of eye appeal. Congrats to Bernie on your new baby I am sure you are going to have lots of fun with her in the future.

 

Y Rulez R Broken wins her yearling filly class and 2nd yearling versatility at the WAQHA Bonanza Show, congratulations guys.

Coliban Rusty Rules wins his stallion 4 years and over class and then Reserve Champion Colt/Stallion out of a big line up of colts, we are very proud of our boy and even though in the middle of his breeding season he proved that his temperament is next to none and switched straight back into show mode. Thank you to my lovely daughter Bec on showing her baby for such a great win. It was lovely to get the opportunity to take a pic of father and daughter too.

It is with great excitement that we announce that the miniature filly born this season Yarrabah Cinderella has been colour tested and her results are she is a smoky black, which means she has one copy of the dilute gene. We also had our miniature stallion Wildfire Peppers Double Trouble colour tested and he is homozygous for the black gene, which means that he will never produce a chestnut foal. This is such exciting news for us and we look forward to producing some lovely Coloured foals in the future.

We attended the Perth Royal Show today with our little stallion Wildfire Peppers Double Trouble for him to win Grand Champion Colt/Stallion and then to take out the prestigious award of Best WA Bred Miniature Pony. I would like to say a BIG thank you to my daughter Rebecca for doing such a fantastic job of showing Gumby today, the smile on her face was priceless.

Wildfire Peppers Double Trouble attended his first show at the Bibs and Bootees Young Stock Show. We are very happy with how he handled himself on his first outing and over the moon with his Champion 2yo placing.
